Description:
As a key member of the District’s Administrative Team, you will report to the Superintendent. Relying upon your knowledge of best practice in childcare provision and educational leadership experience in early learning, you will provide visionary leadership and exceptional management of policies, procedures, and processes that ensure excellence in childcare environments and early learning opportunities throughout our District. You will collaborate with District senior leadership, school principals, employee groups, community partners, and outside agencies to develop a vision for childcare provision and integration within schools. You will lead the development of early learning programming for pre-K and school aged students, including providing leadership in the provision of early learning professional development for school principals, and early learning teachers and educators. Culturally aware, you are cognizant of the importance of addressing equity and excellence for Indigenous students and staff.
Duties Include
Childcare Leadership and Management
Creates and sustains a contemporary vision for the provision of childcare spaces that is responsive to legislative guidelines and the District’s Strategic Plan.
Builds relationships and connections with community partners, childcare providers, and Indigenous stakeholders to enhance childcare experiences throughout the District.
Expands before and after school care opportunities for children through licensing existing and/or available spaces in schools.
Accesses, promotes, and manages provincial resources and supports (i.e. New Spaces Fund applications, Child Care Operating Funding, Child Care Fee Reduction Initiative, and other planning and operating resources).
Collaborates with employee groups to ensure successful implementation and operation of childcare spaces through the development of local agreements where necessary.
Plans and implements a summer learning program for elementary students.
Early Learning Leadership and Management
Manages a designated budget and develops sustainable approaches to resource allocation.
Leads the design and implementation of professional learning to enhance the understanding of the Early Learning Framework and early learning instruction for District staff (principals/vice-principals, K-7 teachers, and early childhood educators).
