Description:

Reporting to the Commissioner of Public Works, the Director of Transportation Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational direction to the division, which provides planning, design, operation, maintenance, compliance and delivery of transportation services for the Region, ensuring divisional programs and services are aligned with Regional priorities, objectives, and initiatives. The Director is a member of the Public Works senior leadership team, setting and monitoring strategic implementation plans and operational policy.

Education

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Applied Sciences or other relevant area of study.
• An equivalent combination of education, experience and qualifications may be considered.

Knowledge

• 10 years of experience in the administration, engineering, construction, planning and maintenance of transportation systems, including at least 5 years in a senior management level, preferably in the municipal sector.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of the Highway Traffic Act, Ontario Traffic Manuals, O.Reg. 239/02 of the Municipal Act, Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) standards and leading best practices in municipal roadway design and operation.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) OR Certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET).
• Other related professional designations along with education, training and experience may be considered as equivalent.
