Our client, a leader in steel solutions for manufacturing, fabrication, maintenance, and design industries, is seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to oversee their multi-site operations in Ontario.
This senior leadership role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, team performance, and strategic growth while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Director will lead key functions, including Logistics, Health & Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Inventory Management, with a focus on building cohesive, high-performing teams.
What you should expect:
- Operational Leadership: Manage daily operations across multiple service centers, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Performance Optimization: Develop and execute strategies that improve site performance, aligning with company goals and customer expectations.
- Team Development: Lead, coach, and develop diverse teams to foster a collaborative, results-driven culture.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices across all sites.
- Union Management: Lead unionized teams effectively, managing the bargaining process when required.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement lean processes and drive operational efficiencies to achieve business growth.
- Budget & Cost Management: Ensure all activities align with budgetary targets and contribute to financial objectives.
What We’re Looking For:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- At least 5 years of operations management experience, preferably in manufacturing or fabrication industries.
- Experience within a Unionized environment.
- Operational Expertise:
- Strong leadership experience across logistics, safety, quality, supply chain, and capital projects.
- Comfortable working in both unionized and non-unionized environments.
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams across multiple sites.
- Experience managing complex operations while balancing long- and short-term goals.
