Qualifications:
 

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent experience.
    • Master’s level degree in Business Administration would be considered an asset.
    • Project Management Professional designation would be considered an asset.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 - 15 years of relevant experience including progressively senior roles managing people.
  • Demonstrated project management experience undertaking complex, multi-discipline capital projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and achieve required objectives.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational problem-solving, planning and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated use of sound judgment and reliable decision making.
  • Strong organizational skills and a high degree of self-motivation and business acumen.
     

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Provide leadership and oversight to the Facilities and Maintenance teams at our four locations to ensure their efficient operation and that annual objectives are achieved.
  • Accountable for the development and execution of reliability and maintenance programs to ensure all facilities and critical equipment support ship repair, design, and construction.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans for critical infrastructure and equipment.
  • Coordinate the assignment of work to third party contractors as required.
  • Responsible for the Sustaining Capital Program at Irving Shipbuilding.
  • Participate in the long-term capital plan for Irving Shipbuilding facilities.
  • Develop department goals and annual budgets that align with strategic plan.
  • Develop department key performance indicators and department performance metrics.
  • Ensure all facilities comply with relevant laws, regulations and occupational health and safety standards.
  • Support the development and growth of team members to ensure high level of technical and project management competence.
  • Accountable to develop and oversee department budgets.
  • Establish cross department relationships to maximize department effectiveness.
