Description:
The Marketing department functions as an in-house marketing and graphic design service for Niagara College, in the following areas:
- Marketing consultation and plan development;
- Design services;
- Copywriting services;
- Social & Digital Media;
- Photography & Videography
- Print services;
- Web services; and
- Event and promotional material.
Reporting to the Director, Marketing, the successful candidate works as part of a broader marketing unit to assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining its external branding and communications presence. The ideal candidate works independently and must exercise initiative and good judgment.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Consulting with sub brand clients and stakeholders on their web goals and developing Wordpress website solutions while ensuring that overall requirements are met while maintaining standards for appearance, accessibility, and usability.
- Creating design prototypes and wireframes for internal clients in collaboration with the Marketing Team. Prototypes may include graphic design, information architecture and content layout.
- Developing and building Wordpress themes and plugins based on design prototypes and wireframes.
- Performing regular maintenance and updates on Wordpress websites.
- Creating and deploying digital graphics to digital applications and advertising platforms.
- Adhering to emerging and ever-changing web requirements and trends including AODA compliance, search engine optimization, UI / information design experience.
Qualifications:
- Two (2) year diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in New Media Web Design or similar field of study
- Two (2) to Four (4) years of web experience with a track record in web development, execution and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Wordpress theme development at a PHP/template level and a basic understanding of Wordpress plugin development. Good understanding of Wordpress template hierarchy, HTML5/CSS3 including flex and grid, Javascript/jQuery, and a business understanding of Internet applications.
- An introductory understanding of Wordpress Gutenberg is a plus.
- Previous experience with Advanced Custom Fields is a plus.
- Advanced knowledge and experience using Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator with understanding of vector and raster graphics.
- Knowledge of developing websites which promote web accessibility (AODA WCAG 2.0).
- Demonstrated track record of developing websites which are responsive (mobile friendly).
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and integrating multiple web projects.
- Strong networking and coordination abilities with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent time management, communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
