Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President, Business Governance & Controls, Retail Advice & Solutions (BG&C), this role is responsible for building and enhancing BG&C’s digital capabilities and delivering proactive insights to shape advisor business practices and standards that are client-centric and aligned with regulatory requirements as well as business priorities.

 

What will you do?

 

Digital transformation

  • Build and own BG&C’s business and digital capabilities target state aligned with Retail Advice & Solutions’ business strategy and target operating model, with a focus on adaptability, automation and scalability

  • Build and execute against the BG&C capability roadmap; act as a capability/business owner for all BG&C digital tools and technology

  • Partner with Business Architecture, Retail Wealth Transformation, Dealer and other business partners and stakeholders to understand and recommend where common enterprise capabilities can be leveraged to accelerate the roadmap

  • Own and enhance BG&C end-user computing tools and processes in accordance with Sun Life’s policies


Reporting and analytics

  • Build and own a comprehensive BG&C data strategy in partnership with Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence CoE and other stakeholders that will enable access to consistent, accurate and relevant data.

  • Enhance BG&C reporting and analytics capabilities by generating proactive insights, dashboards and trending to enable leaders to understand key business risks and governance drivers, and to support the alignment of advisor practices with regulatory expectations.

  • Support enhancement/evolution of oversight and supervision programs through proactive insights/trending of advisor practices and behaviour, digitization of manual processes, automation and front-end controls.

  • Build and own BG&C’s KRIs, KPIs and other performance metrics.

  • Provide data and analytics-related input and support for projects, including supporting teams to clearly define problem statements through data and analytics.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience evaluating and implementing digital and technology capabilities.

  • Demonstrated experience in large project delivery and some experience in business analysis, continuous process improvement, process automation or business architecture.

  • Experience analyzing and solving complex business problems and strong business and financial acumen.

  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.

  • Organizational savvy and ability to navigate and lead cross-functionally within a complex and matrixed organization.

  • Excellent coach and mentor with proven success at leading and developing a high performing team and driving transformation in ways of thinking and doing business.

  • 7+ years' experience in financial services industry, with particularly focus on wealth and/or insurance sales and distribution processes.

  • Experience in using data analysis tools such as SQL server, SAS or similar.

  • Must be a power user of Excel and able to develop and maintain VBA macros; proficiency in SQL coding to query and analyze data is preferred.
