Reporting to the Manager, Solutions Delivery, the Desktop Analyst will be responsible for the design, installation, testing, optimization, administration and standardization of all Government of Nunavut’s (GN) physical and virtual desktop hardware, operating systems, application and software within the solution delivery network environment. This will also include all developing standards and guidelines physical and virtual desktop hardware, operating systems, software/application and the establishment of automated deployment and imaging standards.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized Diploma in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or related Engineering program, along with seven (7) years of recent experience in a large (over 2000 users’ network) complex enterprise wide networks with diverse solutions from multiple vendors. Five (5) years of progressive experience in physical and virtual desktop hardware, operating systems, software and applications support in a medium to large enterprise or Government network environment is also required. Current vendor certifications such as Microsoft, Adobe, Vmware, Citrix, Dell and Symantec are also required. Other related certifications may be considered.

Proven experience in project and contract administration within an enterprise within an enterprise level IM/IT environment is an asset. Exposure to satellite network communications is also an asset. This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in Inuktitut would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
