Description:
As a mechanical & materials process intern, you will report directly to our lead process developers. You will be involved with projects that relate to mechanical design, proto-typing, fabrication, high temperature process design, materials testing, and recycled product development. You will become intimately familiar with our technologies and process team workflow allowing you to drive integration and high-level improvements to the process.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Melting furnace development project
a. Advance current furnace prototypes
b. Rapid proto-typing design and builds of (burner nozzles, crucibles, rotary furnace components, electrode set-ups, electrical wiring)
c. Mechanical design, sourcing, fabrication of production scale furnace based on successful proto-types
2. Vertical Shaft Impactor Design and Build
a. Review technology/source potential options
b. Design, fabricate, build professional production scale device
3. Set-up ICP-OES for regular lab scale testing
4. Assist in set-up of abrasive recycling proto-types and pilot plants
5. Testing and modifying materials for product scoping and development
a. Evaluating slag/recycled materials for suitability as cement replacements, blasting media.
b. R&D testing as new challenges arise
6. Project leading
7. Report and presentation preparation
8. Support process team on project deliverables
