Description:
We are currently seeking a Data Engineer to join our Retail Sales Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing our enterprise data pipeline to support delivery of enriched data for Business Insights and Advanced Analytics consumption for Sales primarily at CI. The successful candidate will become an integral part of our team by applying their proven data engineering ability to define and drive fit for purpose data pipeline solutions.
What You Will Do
- Design & build large-scale data pipelines and data infrastructure leveraging the wide range of data capabilities across the organization
- Document & assist development teams with best practice, data delivery solutions using enterprise data ingestion, ETL, API and data management tools
- Work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure an optimal data & advanced analytics platform, for current and future state
- Clean, prepare and optimize datasets, ensuring lineage and quality controls are applied throughout the data integration cycle
- Support Business Insights Analysts in modelling data for visualization and reporting
- Stay current with advanced technologies, including AI (Artificial Intelligence)/Machine learning, Data Management, and cloud Data Warehouse
What You Will Bring
- 3 years of proven experience as a Data Engineer in a Big Data, cloud processing environment
- Experience with integrating structured and unstructured data across various platforms and sources
- Hands on experience with AWS suite of services supporting big data (S3, EBS, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Athena, EMR, Cloudwatch, Stepfunctions and others)
- Experience in the Financial Services specifically in Management would be preferred
- Experience with Master Data Management tools and processes would be an asset
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
- Strong knowledge with programming methodologies (version control, testing, QA) and agile development methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of AWS tools required to develop automated, productionized data pipelines
- In-depth knowledge of industry data – IFIC, Investor Economics, Investor Economics, Environics Analytics, Broadridge, Envestnet Intelligence, is an asset
- In depth knowledge of and experience with relational, SQL and NoSQL databases
- Proficient with SQL, Java, JavaScript R and Python
- Experience working with large, complex datasets
- Knowledge of Talend ETL and related suite of tools an asset
- Confident & versatile IT professional with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the Business and IT community
- Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills
