Court Administrator

 

Description:

As Court Administrator, you are responsible for implementing Court Services and Departmental strategies at the Yarmouth and Digby Justice centres, as well as the Annapolis Royal Satellite court. This work includes developing and administering locally applicable court standards and guidelines consistent with province-wide strategic directions, and for operations within the Justice Centres. You will contribute to the overall strategic and operational management of the Court Services Division by providing input, advice, and recommendations to the Divisional Management Team (DMT) regarding improvements to policies, procedures, and guidelines. You will also develop and prepare procedures specific to the Justice Centers, provide input to province-wide corporate policies and procedures, and assume a leadership role in the communication to staff of the division's business plan, strategic direction and priorities.

Qualifications and Experience


To be considered for this opportunity, you have a University degree with 5 years of progressive managerial and supervisory experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

As the successful candidate, you are familiar with all aspects and procedures of the court systems and have strong leadership skills with the proven ability to coach and develop others. You hold experience in policy development/implementation, as well as fiscal management. You deliver effective and efficient services to a diverse client group. A working knowledge of the nature and purpose of the justice system, and of legislation, regulations and court rules is required. The position requires you to be a self-starter who is result-oriented, demonstrating the ability to lead and achieve consensus and cooperation among staff and other justice stakeholders.

Furthermore, you have a strong strategic way of thinking and can link long-range visions and concepts to your daily work. Excellent written and verbal communication skills specifically in relation to explaining ideas or concepts to senior leadership are required. Interpersonal skills and partnership and relationship building skills are also vital. The successful candidate must be able to make sound decisions in ambiguous or risky situations and demonstrate an understanding of cultural differences.

Experience within a justice related environment will be considered an asset.
