Coordinator Student Services Engagement

 

Description:

In this role, you will work closely with partners who are dedicated to enhancing the Concordia student experience through academic support, career development services, student engagement, health and wellness, and more.

 

Through connecting directly with students and staff, you will play a key role in making students at Loyola feel welcomed, supported and included at Concordia.

 

SCOPE
Reporting to the Department Coordinator, Student Services, the incumbent executes a pilot project to create community on Loyola campus in the AD building for services for students, including overseeing a space for students as well as facilitating programming in the area. The incumbent works in collaboration with campus partners, including students, student groups, faculty members and staff to organize events. They regularly connect with the Loyola campus community through tabling, flyering and email, including outreach to students, and facilitate student service support to students through organizing significant events.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Active involvement in the development and planning of events and promotion of student services at the Loyola campus.
  • Reach out to partners offering services to students to share the space, and increase service offerings to students at Loyola.
  • Establish a schedule with University service providers to use the community offices to increase service offerings to the student body at the Loyola campus on a regular and promoted schedule. Act as LibCal administrator.
  • Proactively consult with students at Loyola to develop programming and the establishment of a rotation of services based on student needs.
  • Participate in and contribute to short- and long-term planning and strategic development of the Loyola space, in collaboration with the Department Coordinator, Student Services and support services partners.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to determine the best modes and media to reach students at Loyola, to advertise services and programming.
  • Responsible for the oversight and smooth functioning of the physical space in AD103, including supplies, requests or handling of complaints and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for students.
  • Be knowledgeable about all services offered to Concordia students in order to provide the most appropriate referrals to students who enter the space.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree and one to two years of related work experience.
  • Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written English and French in order to inform and communicate with students.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relation-building, and communication skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and faculty.
  • Aptitude to work in a service-oriented environment as both a member of a team and independently.
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and positive communicator who thrives on working with students.
  • Ability to work on the Loyola campus four days a week, or as required, including outside of normal operating hours for special events.
  • Approachability (is sensitive and patient with others) and composure (is a calming influence in a difficult situation) are desirable qualities.
  • Knowledge of the University environment is an asset.
