Our Consultant Contracts Office is seeking a Contracts Administrator to provide contract planning, management and administration services for capital projects undertaken by the Capital Project Group.
What will I be doing?
- Prepares, reviews and administers contracts (e.g. construction, commercial, consulting contracts) during various stages of the contract management process,
- Reviews, validates and analyses project/contract requirements, tenders and contract documents and administers procurement strategies, to ensure that the overall contracting strategy and individual clauses/terms are applied appropriately and consistently to reduce risk and protect the interests of Metrolinx.
- Identifies and advises on the resolution of a range of critical contract issues including contractor performance, and monitors contractor adherence to the terms of contractual agreements
- Assists with the management and negotiation of complex, large scale contractual claims with vendors. Interprets contract provisions to help resolve claims and questions submitted by contractors.
- Advises management on contract management and claims mitigation strategies.
- Provides contract administration expertise and advice to project teams regarding all aspects of contract administration and risks through the lifecycles of construction, commercial and consulting projects.
- Identifies opportunities for innovation, risk mitigation and continuous improvement for contract management, administration and risk control. Provides analysis, advice and makes recommendations to address adverse trends and improve processes.
- Validates contractual obligations and monitors completed work by vendors prior to the release of payments by the Cost/Financial team.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the contract management and administration of large multi-billion dollar contractual agreements involving large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Completion of a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction/Contract/Commercial Law, or a related discipline - or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent .
- Knowledge of design and construction/commercial programs, standards and processes to provide contract administration/management expertise/advice for varied construction/commercial/consulting projects.
- Knowledge of construction/commercial contract administration and claims management techniques and practices in a multi project construction/commercial and infrastructure environment.
- Theories, principles and practices of project management and interpersonal skills to coordinate complex contracts under pressure and critical schedules
- Experience in the interpretation of contract law, and Ontario legislation (e.g. Construction Lien Act, Professional Engineers Ac t) , Canadian Construction Documents Committee documents, bespoke contract documents, specifications and drawings, and legal statues and proceedings).
- Experience using contract administration systems, such as Primavera Contract Manager and Oracle Unifier
