Description:

The Industry Partnership & Commercialization (IP&C) office of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) champions the development and commercialization of SickKids research. To achieve this goal, we foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, we forge commercial partnerships and we help to build start-up companies.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Industry Partnerships & Commercialization, the Communications & Events Coordinator will play an integral role in the development and delivery of an effective communications plan and event management for the department that elevates the profile for SickKids. This includes working closely with the IP&C Operations Manager and Communications & Public Affairs to ensure that all events and communication efforts align with organizational messaging and integrated campaigns.

IP&C is looking for a seasoned Communications & Events Coordinator with strong communication and collaboration skills, solid organizational skills, and proven event planning experience. The successful Communications & Events Coordinator is passionate about planning and delivering quality events with the ability to write and prepare clear, concise impactful messaging for diverse audiences both internally and externally.

Here's What You'll Get To Do:

Communications:

  • Develop and implement communications goals and strategies for both the department and individual projects
  • Writing and editing a variety of materials to support communications initiatives, including outreach materials, web stories, website content and social media content
  • Support the development of the department’s quarterly newsletter by working cross-department to generate and edit content
  • Writing, editing and distributing email communication for target audiences with support and input of the staff
  • Coordinate the maintenance of an ongoing content calendar in support of the department’s activities and goals
  • Build excellent working relations with internal and external stakeholders

Events Management:

  • Manage seminars and special events for the department both virtually and in-person
  • Pre-event planning, event oversight, post-event reporting and budget management for each event
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define event objectives, schedules, required resources and measures of success for all events
  • Coordinate all relevant vendor and internal resources on-site to ensure flawless execution of events
  • Prepare and deliver detailed reports to management and team members as needed
