The Calgary TELUS Convention Centre is looking to hire a full-time Communications and Social Media Specialist in our Communications and External Relations division. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications and External Relations, this position is responsible for building and optimizing the CTCC’s digital marketing strategy, including management of social media accounts, website, and digital campaigns that are consistent with the brand and engage the CTCC audiences, and supporting the organization’s strategic objectives. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Specialist, this position will be responsible for developing social media strategy, writing, and scheduling relevant content, and reporting on performance to ensure consistent and captivating messaging. This position will also provide administrative support for the team.

Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and implement the CTCC’s social media and content strategy to share the brand’s story in written, verbal, and visual forms. This includes writing, scheduling, and analyzing posts across various social platforms.
Coordinate all aspects of the digital brand, including website and social media management platform.
Plan and execute successful social media and digital marketing campaigns with the Marketing and Communications Specialist to meet specific objectives of the organization.
Create and oversee an annual content calendar outlining all marketing and communication initiatives with the Marketing and Communications Specialist.
Manage agencies and third-party contracted service companies on strategic projects and asset development.
Manage and execute digital marketing budget and coordinate campaign and advertising allocations.
Build strategic relationships with clients, industry, and community partners to enhance the CTCC’s digital presence and support organizational objectives.
Monitor industry and community partners, digital presence, sentiment, and activities, and inform Leadership about topics and trends related to the CTCC and the industry.
Engage with the online community, responding to comments, questions, and private messages in a manner that fosters an online positive community and reflects the brand's voice.
Conduct social listening and monitoring to report on brand sentiment, any potential threats to the brand, civic partners, and competitor activities. Prepare detailed analysis for Senior Leadership as needed.
Define and track key performance indicators (KPI) for digital initiatives, analyze the level of success, and tweak strategy as needed.
Stay up to date with the latest digital marketing trends to update strategy as needed.
Manage bank of the CTCC’s visual assets, and work with clients and other partners to manage required waivers and consents.
Maintain media database and support media relations projects as needed.
Maintain a central digital filing system.
Support the department in the execution of community investment and engagement initiatives.
Support communication strategy via emails, the CTCC blog, and the website with content that builds purposeful connections, tells the CTCC story, and reflects the brand personality.
Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic marketing and communication strategies to support the CTCC's business goals and objectives.
Provide direct digital support to Sales and Events teams on best practices for the use of social media for business purposes and special projects, including promotional requirements and campaigns for key markets.
Provide administrative support to the team such as purchase orders and invoicing, scheduling internal and external meetings, and booking meeting rooms.
Evening and weekend onsite availability when required.

Strong creative writing skills and ability to write on brand in both the long and short form as required.
Ability to think strategically.
Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.
Demonstrates creativity and documented immersion in social media.
Displays in-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios.
Photography knowledge and a creative eye for producing visual content.
Displays the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in a written and visual format.
Practices superior time management.
Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary (i.e., content development, creation and editing of content, and online reputation management).
Ability to pick up new tools quickly.
Maintains a working knowledge of the principles of SEO, including keyword research and Google Analytics.
Possesses functional knowledge and/or experience with WordPress.
Design experience using Adobe Suite and Canva is an asset.
Demonstrates winning Social Customer Service techniques such as empathy, patience, advocacy, and conflict resolution.
Possesses the ability to identify potential negative or crises and apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues.
