The Communications and Administration Coordinator is responsible for providing vital administration and communications support for the growth and success of Living Wage for Families BC.
In this role you will collaborate with the Provincial Manager on all communications and marketing functions of the program. You will be the point of contact for all email and phone enquiries from the public, workers, employers, elected officials and the media. In addition this role will proactively manage content across social media channels and the Living Wage Campaign for Families BC website to increase community engagement.
You describe yourself as a storyteller, with community-centered practice in building relationships and networking. You like to explain, to describe and to write. You are dedicated to applying REDI (Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion) principles into life and work and enjoy making data and information accessible to diverse audiences.
A typical day would involve any combination of:

  • Act as point of contact for all email and phone enquiries from the public, workers, employers, elected officials and the media (communications toolkit with commonly asked questions will be provided)
  • Manage content across 4 social media channels (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) to increase engagement
  • Manage the website, including developing new content and monitoring Google Analytics to improve user experience
  • Continuously look to mitigate bias in communications in accordance with VCF’s commitment to Truth and Reconciliation, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Draft and issue media releases
  • Support the administration for meetings, including scheduling, preparing documents and writing minutes
  • Support fundraising, including writing fundraising applications and invoicing living wage employers
  • Support with the Living Wage Employer certification and recertification program, including supporting employers with their queries, managing applications and communicating about new Living Wage Employers
  • Financial administration of the campaign – monitoring expenses and invoicing, drafting budgets, preparing financial updates. (This position is not a book-keeping role and experience with book-keeping and/or accounting is not required. Training can be provided to support the successful candidate in this area.)
  • Stay tuned to legislative, policy and regulatory activity at all levels of government that may affect the work of Living Wage Campaign for Families BC
  • Support the development of reports in order to inform decision-making and reporting requirements of funders and key stakeholders
  • Collaborate and actively participate in reciprocal learning in research projects, conferences/symposiums, workshops and on-going initiatives relating to Living Wage Campaign for Families BC and the Foundation’s strategic directions
