HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Lead collections and curatorial departments in establishing cataloguing and data standards across the ROM collection.
- Manage the lifecycle of digital assets, ensuring integrity, consistency, and adherence to metadata standards.
- Support and promote the use of The Museum System (TMS) and Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems.
- Facilitate public access to collections data through eMuseum and other aggregators.
- Train staff, interns, and volunteers on data entry, standards, and cataloguing guidelines.
- Respond to internal and external collections data requests, generating customized reports and supporting audit and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with external organizations like Canadensys and GBIF to ensure ROM collections data is accessible through collaborative portals.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with specialization in Museum Studies or Information/Data Management (Natural History background preferred)
- Expertise in collections management systems, including The Museum System (TMS) and Crystal Reports. SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and basic SQL knowledge are assets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Digital Asset Management Systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with scientific terminology, metadata standards, and digital asset lifecycle management.
- A proactive approach to providing support and training to users with varying skill levels.
