Collections Coordinator

 

Description:

As a Collections Coordinator, you will be responsible for handling, moving, tracking and storing artifacts. You will participate in their enhancement by providing safe access during tours or in exhibitions at the History Museum, while contributing to their care. You will also perform other related tasks.

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience:

  • Managing large and diverse artifact collections.
  • Setting up and organizing museum storage.
  • Working with staff, the public, and outside organizations.
  • Planning and estimating project needs.
  • Handling, packing, and transporting artifacts.
  • Designing crates for shipping and exhibitions.
  • Operating power tools and lifting equipment.
  • Managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

Knowledge:

  • Museum principles and conservation techniques.
  • Artifact storage, handling, and packaging.
  • MS Office, database software, and digital photography.
  • Barcoding technology for tracking collections.
  • Workplace safety in a museum setting.
  • Firearm handling (with a valid Firearms Acquisition Certificate, if needed)
