- Recommend strategic direction for business processes consistent with Cornerstone project goals, the high-performance utility model, and industry best practices. Review and redirect strategic plan for business processes to reflect changes in Hydro One strategy, new initiatives, identified corrective actions, or as required by shareholder(s) and regulator. Develop/implement the extent/type of business processes Hydro One requires to meet its strategic objectives; including benchmarking/best practices, operational improvements, new technology, Cornerstone project goals, root cause analysis, etc.
- Lead and manage the implementation of business process by maintaining effective working relationships with staff of all Business Units and corporate groups to ensure compliance, identify corrective actions and improvement opportunities for the attainment of Cornerstone benefits.
- Provide a recognized centre of excellence that provides advise on business process issues, including being the primary source for external information exchanges, benchmarking, and in development external contracts related to the Cornerstone assets and related human performance.
- Work closely and continually with all parts of Hydro One to ensure technical skills and training capabilities are provided to line of business process owners and champions in support of process improvements.
- Deal frequently with other utilities in Canada and the United States, industry associations vendors and consultants and standards authorities to discuss business process, opportunities or trends; to develop complementary Hydro One policies and strategies; and to influence and persuade external entities to adopt positions that are consistent with the company’s interests and benefits.
- Lead and champion implementation and adoption of the corporate business process capabilities and technologies. Provide direction to all lines of business and corporate groups. Liaise with other enablement staff to execute enablement activities.
- Carry out process compliance analysis and prepare reports with specific focus in the attainment of the Cornerstone benefits and improvement opportunities.
- Participate on Hydro One process council in specific areas of responsibility (Work Management, Asset Management, Supply Chain).
- Design, implement and maintain processes, tools and system necessary to increase the rate and speeds with which improved performance practices are adopted into Hydro One's businesses. Assess the effectiveness of business processes in Hydro One and make recommendations to management on necessary changes. Assist in negotiating and influencing the business processes to the rest of the organization.
- Provide effective input into performance measurement, technical solutions and training in regard to best practices in business process. Monitor and evaluate best practices in other benchmarked industries and jurisdictions and recommend, on a continuing basis, improvements to Hydro One processes with the objective of developing and maintaining al leading edge capability. Analyze industry standards, establish criteria and priorities and lead business units improvements.
- Identify and map process requirements necessary for regular reporting of key measures. This may include information within organizations, capability of new Cornerstone technology, Human Resource systems, customer information, or external sources.
- Research, design, implement and manage methodologies, processes and strategies that will enable Hydro One to be an industry leader in technology and process enablement.
- Perform detailed analysis of business process compliance in Hydro One, including the identification and interpretation of trends from results and measures.
- Provide input on future business process needs for periodic business planning and reporting by Hydro One. Complete projects and key initiative plans for the enablement organization.
