Description:
Manage the continuous evolution and implementation of CIBC’s climate strategy.
Work with internal stakeholders to further the Bank’s efforts on accelerating our net-zero ambition by evaluating and setting targets for future priority sectors.
Inform internal policies and corresponding public statements, in collaboration with other internal partners, to satisfy market expectation.
Oversee the development of climate policies and programs to facilitate CIBC’s climate transition plan, net-zero ambition, and climate commitments.
Identify emerging issues, trends, best practice standards and global commitments related to climate and adjacent areas such as biodiversity, circular economy, and makes recommendations.
Support the VP, ESG in the oversight of key climate strategic projects and initiatives.
Climate-related Disclosure
Maintain deep knowledge of the evolving climate reporting landscape.
Lead on the technical development of climate relate disclosures and reporting, in collaboration with the Risk and other internal stakeholders, to demonstrate continuous improvements, meet regulatory and stakeholder expectations.
Contribute to the innovation and content of CIBC’s climate-related disclosure and KPIs.
Support in the evaluation and interpretation of climate-related metrics.
Facilitate the assurance of climate-related ESG metrics.
Horizontal Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement
Provide input on responses to climate-related concerns from investor and other stakeholder while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
Lead on research on climate and environmental sustainability issues to support CIBC’s thought leadership.
Create a culture of strong collaboration across CIBC to enhance buy-in, influence strategies, and actions to capture opportunities related to climate change and related topics.
Prepare Executive and Board-level materials, on climate topics, emerging trends, regulatory and/or industry updates.
Represent CIBC in key sustainability or climate-related memberships, working groups, and associations.
Who you are
You’re a subject matter expert in climate change strategies. You have a deep understanding of climate-related strategies, emissions reporting metrics and accounting and evolving disclosure requirements.
You have strong technical background in quantitative discipline. CFA/CPA preferred.
