Description:
Review and assess new claims to determine coverage and take appropriate action
Retain and instruct lawyers/adjusters when required
Receive and review reports from service providers
Determine liability, value of claim, service provider fees and sets reserves accordingly
Coordinate and control progress of files including liaison with lawyers, adjusters, insurers and insureds
Prepare and maintain reports and correspondence pertinent to ongoing operation
Liaise with underwriting department with respect to claims
Respond to brokers/insureds/insurers inquiries
Report to insurers on large claims and presents files at semi-annual insurers meetings
Prepare for and attends settlement conferences and mediations
Conduct internal audits
Prepare and deliver presentations to insureds and brokers as well as “in-house” presentations/seminars
May be required to write loss control bulletins and claims procedures discussion papers
May be required to participate in loss control seminars and company events
Travel may be required
Perform other related duties as required
