Our Vancouver Island practice is looking to add 2 enthusiastic, hardworking Civil Engineering Technologists/Drafting Technicians to our team. As a Civil Engineering Technologist/Drafting Technician, you will be responsible for working alongside our team of engineering, planning, landscape architecture, and drafting specialists to translate high-level conceptual designs from preliminary through to detailed design. Coupled with the diverse learning and project experience opportunities, do you see yourself excited to contribute to:
- Supporting engineering personnel in the field with design, drawing production, and/or construction specifications.
- Ensuring quality control of your work and effectively communicating with project leaders.
- Performing a variety of defined assignments with independent judgment.
- Supporting field design, field surveying, and drafting.
- Attending project meetings, collaborating closely with clients/contractors/internal team members whilst listening, communicating, and developing consulting and project documentation skills.
- Communicating effectively with team members and project leaders
- Completing design calculations for civil infrastructure and preparing technical reports.
- Assisting the Landscape Architecture practice in improving the quality of open spaces and communities with design and drafting production, performing site inspections, and construction administration.
- Supporting the project management design and construction of projects.
- Assisting with project timelines and ensuring deadlines are met.
About You
This is a great opportunity for recent graduates from an accredited Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design & Drafting program with up to 5 years of experience. The core skills that will help you succeed here include:
- You have a strong understanding of Civil 3D and AutoCAD and are excited to learn new software.
- You are proficient with Microsoft Excel and other MS Office software.
- You have experience with linear infrastructure design, grading, and quantity calculations.
- You are able to process conventional and LIDAR survey files.
- You have a keen eye for detail and take great pride in your work, in projects both large and small.
- You are flexible and able to take on tasks as needed. You can smoothly adjust to new or changing circumstances.
- You are a self-starter that can work independently and collaborate effectively with others.
- You have strong written and oral communication skills for communicating with team members and clients.
- You are committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
- You are enthusiastic about the opportunity to work on projects related to landscape architecture design, drafting, and illustration.
- You are registered or eligible for registration with ASTTBC or an equivalent Provincial association.
- You have a valid class 5 driver's license or equivalent.
