Key Responsibilities:

Café Management

  • Set up and maintain the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Manage inventory, identify new product opportunities, and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Analyze sales data and adjust operations to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  • Oversee inventory management, pricing models, visual merchandising, and café partnerships.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise café staff, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee daily cash handling, including balancing cash drawers, reconciling sales reports, and ensuring accurate bank deposits
  • Oversee social media promotion and execution of marketing initiatives to promote Café

Staff Recruitment, Training & Supervision

  • Assist the Executive Director with recruitment efforts:
  • Draft job postings, distribute advertisements, review applications, and schedule/conduct interviews.
  • Complete onboarding paperwork for new hires.
  • Train and supervise summer staff for the Café and In-Water Fleet Exhibit.
  • Create staff schedules and ensure daily tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with payment processing systems and ride boat booking software.

Museum Event Coordination

  • Assisting with overall planning and development of events
  • Logistics, budgeting, and tracking expenses
  • Permit applications
  • Bar setup and ordering rental equipment
  • On-site execution of events

On-Site Space Rental Coordination

  • Serve as the primary liaison with caterers, rental companies, and customers for venue rentals.
  • Oversee event logistics, including setup, tear-down, and onsite representation during venue rentals.
  • Ensure venue rentals event run smoothly, providing a professional and welcoming experience for clients.
  • Manage online listings
  • Develop and coordinate social media promotion and oversee staff in executing marketing initiatives to promote venue rentals

Qualifications:

  • Experience in café/food service management, recruitment, and event coordination.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and supervise seasonal staff.
  • Excellent organizational and data analysis skills, with a focus on improving efficiency and profitability.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and troubleshooting payment technology.
  • Smart Serve certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing stress while maintaining a focus on quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of Gananoque and the Thousand Islands region is an asset.
