Business Development Lead

 

Description:

The DMZ has a fantastic opportunity for a Business Development Manager who will spearhead and manage business development activities at the DMZ.

Responsibilities will also include:

  • Developing and promoting innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives to fulfill the vision and objectives of The DMZ and Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU).
  • Working with the Director, Business Development and International Projects to plan, develop, and lead the strategic relationship management with current and potential partners, both local and international, in pursuit of an expanding revenue generation and to build connections for the DMZ’s startups
  • Works closely with the Director in short and long-range strategic business development planning.
  • Creates and executes a partnership framework to attract, retain and grow relationships with new/existing partners.
  • Forecasts and provides insight on trends and identifying opportunities for increased collaboration and supports the framework with the DMZ’s and the University’s strategic directions.
  • Directs special projects from planning to implementation and delivery which includes development of project scope and objectives, timetables and deliverables; planning appropriate resource requirements for the project including staffing, equipment, space and other project requirements.
  • Hires and supervises staff, assigns and prioritizes tasks, establishes goals, sets expectations and evaluates performance.

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience in strategic planning/consulting, business development and program implementation is required.
  • Proven experience managing evolving and multi-faceted relationships including direct and indirect reports, and providing counsel and support to peers and senior executives.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role, supervising and developing staff and external resources, and planning and managing budgets.
  • Strong business development, consulting, problem solving and project management skills, including ability to manage end-to-end from strategy to execution
  • Results driven with ability to deliver on objectives in partnership with others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex, and ever changing market, while being held to deadlines and targets
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial approach to business, including strong networking and business relationship building skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
