Responsibilities

  • Assembles and analyzes relevant market and industry data as required.
  • Manages the Salesforce account, training, and support.
  • Assists with the coordination of the district Client Project Specific Success Criteria (CPSSC) process.
  • Looks for opportunities to pursue, build, and maintain relationships in the industry and community to generate and enhance business opportunities.
  • Assists district/division leaders in achieving business goals by helping identify opportunities, outreach, and research.
  • Provides information for prequalification for project pursuits.
  • Provides input into the design of the annual calendar.
  • Assembles client lists for special events and assists with the coordination of special events.
  • Provides support to the Request for Quotation (RFQ) and proposal processes as required.
  • Interacts with the estimating/proposal/marketing team in proposal development.
  • Manages business development opportunity and lead identification through public procurement sites, quarterbacks Go/No-Go distribution.
  • Assists in the business development aspects of the preconstruction phase of projects.
  • Provides support to manager, Business Development, with the administration of monthly business development meetings and management of meeting minutes updates and actively participates in the business development working group and strategic business development group meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business administration or a related discipline or equivalent.
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in the construction industry, business, or a related role preferred.
  • Possesses an understanding of the district culture, goals, operations, fee strategies, and contract general conditions structure.
  • Experience developing and executing effective business development marketing campaigns in alignment with the strategy objectives of the business development group.
  • Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry practices and new developments (construction process, delivery models, contract types).
  • Understands construction and design systems, building types, and costs.
  • Basic understanding of construction terminology and ready grasp of concepts and technical processes.
  • Knowledge of federal/provincial or state/municipal government procurement processes an asset (i.e., experience preparing winning P3 proposals) (BLDGS).
  • Recognizes differences between public-sector and private-sector clients.
  • Some understanding of our major competitors and their strengths and weaknesses.
  • Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and diplomatically.
  • Assists in developing and maintaining key client/ “rainmaker” list.
  • General knowledge of client’s business and industry.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with industry competition to add to knowledge.
