Description:

Reporting to the Chair and CEO of the Brookfield Sustainability Institute, the incumbent is responsible for acquiring client projects with corporations, governments, and non-profit organizations. They will oversee the proposal development, contract finalization, client liaison and reporting, account management of projects once they are started, the productivity assurance process, billables and production coordination until successful completion of the project.

  • Delivers exceptional client service by maximizing results and driving high performance, while also fostering collaboration across stakeholders and team.
  • Works closely with the Senior Manager of Global Studio to meet client objectives.
  • Possesses special communication skills both internally and externally with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Manages projects to ensure projects remain on schedule, on budget, etc.
  • Informs pertinent stakeholders of BSI activities through outreach and relationship management.
  • Acquires new clients for BSI by performing outreach responsibilities to different conferences, events, etc. with the goal of identifying, liaising and bringing in potential new clients (e.g. “Birddogging” – Finding the potential clients to maximize available opportunities).
  • Works with the COO and Chair in order to introduce and close clients.
  • Maintains up to date CRM with respect to potential clients and prospects.
  • Manages administration and client retention throughout the project life cycle, including contracts payments and budgetary obligations.
  • Oversees the team responsible for the range of BSI publications.
  • Manages strategic relationships with the League membership.
  • Oversees the development of the digital properties associated with the BSI, including the BSI main website, and the research and publication platform being developed for the BSI Observatory.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 

What qualifications do you need for this role?

 

  • Four year Degree or Post Graduate Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field. Masters in Design Strategies would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum nine years of overall industry experience would be required including four to five years of experience in building and leading teams.
  • Experience managing project teams through all phases of the project lifecycle that support the sustainability function.
  • Experience in a startup culture would be considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues and demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet a challenging deadline.
  • Prior experience with key corporate accounts from project acquisition to project deliver that include a multi-national client base across multiple countries around the globe.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and client service skills.
  • Ability to travel between campuses, off-campus, out of city, and out of the country for events, business development and client management as required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and the College.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.
