Description:
The Parts Person is responsible for managing the inventory of parts, maintaining accurate records, and providing support to the service department. This role involves data entry, inventory control, customer invoicing, and maintaining a clean and organized parts room. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Entry: Accurately input parts information, work orders, and invoices into the computer system.
Invoicing: Code and copy invoices; prepare and invoice customers for parts and services.
Work Orders Management: Open and close work orders; enter parts into work orders as they leave the parts room.
Filing: Organize and maintain work orders and invoices, ensuring all documents are filed correctly and promptly.
Parts Room Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the parts room to ensure easy access and inventory accuracy.
Parts Pricing and Ordering: Assist in pricing parts, order new inventory as needed, and ensure all parts are stocked adequately.
Receiving and Returning Parts: Manage parts receiving, inspect incoming parts for accuracy and quality, and handle returns of defective or incorrect parts.
Inventory Control: Conduct monthly spot checks of inventory by auditing one shelf each month to maintain accurate inventory records.
Customer Service: Assist customers and internal staff with parts inquiries, orders, and returns, providing exceptional customer service at all times.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a parts department, inventory management, or a related field is preferred.
Proficiency in using computer systems and software for data entry and inventory management.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Basic knowledge of automotive or industrial parts is an asset.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move parts and materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Standing, walking, and bending frequently throughout the workday.
Ability to work in various environments, including indoors and parts storage areas.
