Description:
Bellwoods Brewery is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Brewer to join its team at the Hafis Road production facility in Toronto for a one-year contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a brewing professional to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic craft brewery known for its innovation and diverse beer portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all brewing-related tasks, including wort production, fermentation monitoring, and yeast handling.
- Clean and sanitize tanks, vessels, and brewing equipment to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and quality.
- Mill grain and prepare raw materials for brewing operations.
- Execute dry hopping processes, including cleaning and using dry hop vessels.
- Add fruit and other adjuncts to beer as per recipe requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the brewery.
- Collaborate with the packaging team to support canning, bottling, and kegging as needed.
- Follow production schedules while being flexible to changing demands and schedules.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a brewery, or completion of formal brewing-related education.
- Strong technical understanding of brewing processes, equipment, and quality control practices.
- Hands-on experience with cleaning, dry hopping, milling, and ingredient additions.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts to meet production needs.
- Strong teamwork skills, with a positive attitude and respectful communication style.
- Enthusiastic about creative brewing processes and new product development.
Work Environment:
- Based at Bellwoods’ Hafis Road production facility, home to a 35HL brew house.
- Facility includes canning and bottling equipment, oak foeders, barrels, and a coolship.
- Production focuses on a wide range of beer styles, including hazy IPAs, pilsners, mixed fermentation sours, and barrel-aged specialties.
