Description:

The Manitoba Labour Board is an independent specialist tribunal with responsibilities under The Labour Relation Act, The Employment Standards, Code, The Workplace Safety and Health Act and 9 other statutes. The Board responds to applications, appeals, and referrals and assists parties to resolve disputes informally through mediation, or formally by making final decisions often after conducting a hearing.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Must be able to travel throughout the province, with occasional overnight stays
  • Must be able to work overtime if, and when, required

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Extensive experience as a negotiator, mediator, conciliator, labour relations practitioner or union representative with direct experience in collective bargaining, essential services or dispute resolution
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to address emotionally charged issues in a professional and respectful manner
  • Experience in human resource management such as training, development, and performance management
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written communication skills with experience drafting complex correspondence
  • Strong verbal communication skills including experience conducting meetings or presentations with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize competing demands, manage changing priorities and meet strict deadline
