The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery in the Sprott Department of Surgery at University Health Network and the University of Toronto are inviting applications for the position of an academic Orthopaedic Sports Surgeon. This is a full-time faculty appointment. The effective date of this appointment is January 1, 2023.

 


We seek a fully licensed academic surgeon with fellowship training in Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. The position requires advanced arthroscopic skills of all joints with specific specialization in knee reconstruction and cartilage regeneration/transplantation including revision ACLs, multiligamentous knee injuries, cartilage regeneration procedures (OATS/MACI/Osteochondral allograft transplantation), meniscal transplants and corrective osteotomies as well as clinical experience in orthopaedic sports disorders. The candidate must be proficient in managing patients as well as provide management of fracture and trauma patients.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to manage a clinical load consisting of sports medicine disorders with emphasis on regenerative biology; participate in training program for University of Toronto orthopaedics residents and clinical fellows; and be expected to develop a multidisciplinary research program including innovative treatment approaches. There will be a strong emphasis on joint preserving strategies and regenerative technology within the Arthritis Program at UHN as well as Health Service Organization and Management research with emphasis on the disciplines of organization and management science, implementation science, sociology and organizational psychology to understand the organization of health services and the impact of management and organizational practices on performance. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

 


The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
