Description:
To assist with the delivery of a developmentally appropriate, inquiry/play based program that is in compliance with all internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures. To work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, and resolve problems. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- A recent Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
- Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
- Up-to-date certification in CPR-C and Standard First Aid (training provided upon selection if required).
- Experience with inquiry/play based program design and implementation, and with the use of pedagogical documentation.
- Uses initiative; applies sound reason in solving problems and resolves conflict in a calm, professional manner.
- Proven ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, coworkers and other professionals.
- Have the physical and emotional stamina to effectively supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces.
- Ability to use computer systems and programs; including Dayforce, and Storypark.
- Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience.
- Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
- Performs general housekeeping and classroom duties. May be asked to occasionally fill in as cook (job description to be provided).
- Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
