Schulich Heart Program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) and University of Toronto are inviting applications for a permanent position within the Division of Cardiac Surgery. We seek a full-time faculty cardiac surgeon with additional fellowship training in minimally invasive valve/coronary surgery and transcatheter valve interventions. Additional considerations will be given to training/experience focused on mitral valve interventions.The effective date of this appointment is January 2025.
Clinically, the successful candidate will provide advanced cardiac surgical care within a group of 5 cardiac surgeons working alongside a strong multidisciplinary team as a member of the Schulich Heart Program.The successful candidate will have a strong track record and graduate-level training in clinical epidemiology and will have demonstrated excellence in teaching and research throughout their career.
The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The Division performs approximately 600 open surgical procedures per year, along with 400 TAVI and 50 MitraClip procedures. As one of Ontario's largest cardiac care centres with over 7,000 surgical, catheterization, angioplasty, and pacemaker cases per year, the Schulich Heart Program has a lengthy history of innovation and clinical excellence.
