Description:
As an Intermediate/Senior Architect, you’ll play a key role in shaping impactful projects from concept through to construction. Working closely with the firm’s principals, you’ll bring your expertise to every phase and manage clients, teams, and schedules with professionalism and creativity. This position is ideal for someone looking to make a meaningful impact in urban architecture and lead projects with a strong focus on community and social connection.
What You’ll Do
- Take the lead or support project phases, from initial design through construction administration.
- Produce high-quality project documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Conduct site visits and field observations to ensure design intent and compliance with contract documents.
- Engage with clients, attend project meetings, and manage stakeholder relationships.
- Research code requirements and address complex technical challenges creatively.
- Explore and evaluate alternative design solutions.
- Coordinate closely with consultants, engineers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Oversee the production of construction documents with a focus on detail and quality.
- Mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team atmosphere.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of post-graduate experience, preferably in BC.
- Registration with or eligibility for AIBC.
- Strong design sensibility, with demonstrated experience across mixed-use, multifamily projects
- Comprehensive understanding of concrete and wood-frame construction.
- Solid knowledge of BCBC, VBBL, building envelopes, and technical detailing.
- Experience with sustainable design and energy-efficient building strategies.
- Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Suite, MS Office, and Bluebeam.
- Proven track record of coordinating with engineering and consulting teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with municipal permitting and approval processes.
