The Applications Engineer (AE) will have an opportunity to showcase his or her engineering skills and expertise by supporting both in-house Product Development activities and second-level pre and post customer applications tasks. This unique blend of responsibilities allows the ideal candidate to gain a detailed understanding of the product features and capabilities, as well as learn from the customer and markets perspective what is needed for current and next-generation storage solutions and services. The AE will also support pre and post sales activities related to driving customer engagement, product qualification and business award to realize near term revenue growth.

  • Define, implement, and manage in-house Product Qualification and Design of Experiments initiatives to improve product quality and create competitive differentiation opportunities.
  • Perform lab testing and characterization related to product hardware and firmware operation in the areas of Read/Write performance, Thermal Management, Reliability, Endurance, etc.
  • Manage and track firmware releases and regression testing results by analyzing the resulting data for correlation with other WW Engineering centers at Swissbit.
  • Support Embedded Storage Product Development Roadmap – SATA III, PCIe, and Next Gen Storage products and services
  • Support WW sales force in terms of customer facing materials – roadmaps, datasheets, white papers, application notes, etc.
  • Support first and second level failure analysis tasks, tracking, and reporting as needed.
  • Work closely with Netcom, Industrial, and Automotive customers during the pre-sales process to ensure that our product and solution meets or exceeds the customer’s technical and market requirements.
  • Provide engineering and product presentation and consultation to customers, drawing support from Swissbit’s engineering group for design support and optimization.
  • Assess the technical challenges the customer is trying to achieve or overcome. Asking the right questions to convey understanding and gain credibility as a “value added problem solver" will be essential to achieving bid opportunities, presenting a solution or service, and gaining commitment from the customer.
  • Understand the detailed specifications, program and market information and requirements of our products in customer and prospective new applications.
  • Identify and support methods to create greater brand awareness in the North American and WW markets by emphasizing the Swissbit’s value proposition via press releases, blogs, and social media.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the year.
     

Your profile
 

  • BS/AS accredited degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related Technical field required
  • 4+ years prior experience in a related engineering product development and support environment
  • Hardware and firmware troubleshooting, including the ability to use specialized hardware and software test equipment, oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, etc.., as well as analysis of firmware debug UART and test logs.
  • Documentation set management (creating, refining, and publishing of professional internal and external documentation sets, adding content value both from read-ability and presentation perspectives)
  • Proficiency with standard desktop tools: MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint), Salesforce, SAP, Adobe Acrobat Pro, etc.
  • Have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Be detail-oriented, collaborative, internally motivated, self-starter and action driven for positive results.
  • Possess a strong technical knowledge of embedded memory and storage solutions and capabilities – product specifications, applications, modifications, and use cases.
  • Pay attention to detail and use sound judgment when making decisions.
  • Feel comfortable presenting company products and services to all levels of customer management, engineering, and supply chain personnel.
  • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to create quality presentations and clearly communicate on complex technical issues.
