Description:


The Analyst, Financial Reporting supports the Financial Reporting department in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of reported financial position and results. Working closely with all finance functions, this position prepares critical information for key stakeholders within prescribed timelines.

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
 

  • Manage the monthly submission of financials, from the loading of data from ERP to the financial reporting system, completing checks and balances to validate figures accurately presented, and performing intercompany eliminations. Provide detailed commentary to explain financial results on balance sheet line items.
  • Timely preparation of monthly management pack distributed to executives and parent company.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly store operating results; maintain and evaluate reporting efficacy.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS. This includes liaising with external audit team and maintaining accurate and complete financial statement working papers and note support.
  • Preparation of the quarterly financial statement package for banking compliance.
  • Prepare the financial reports for compliance with government reporting (Statistics Canada).
  • Responsible for accuracy and completeness of financial master data across all systems. This encompasses the opening and closing of reporting periods, evaluating and obtaining approvals for requests for new general ledger accounts and profit/cost centers, proposing appropriate financial statement presentation, and checking that data is consistent across various systems.
  • Support the annual balance sheet and cash flow budgeting and forecasting process. This entails obtaining information from various stakeholders, evaluating for reasonableness, and consolidating results in a timely manner.
  • Support the planning and analysis team in the interpretation of financial results as necessary.
  • Support the development of new general accounting and financial reporting processes and systems.
  • Service as a reporting system super-user. Maintain system controls and mapping of data.
  • Prepare supplementary operational reports to assist management in evaluating results.
  • Monitor for changes in financial reporting, accounting and auditing standards, alert management and quantify potential impact. Ensure all changes are implemented & communicated as required.
  • Act as the Financial Reporting business lead for upcoming systems analysis and/or implementations
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the enterprise by performing other duties as required
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for financial information
  • Comply with all Health & Safety policies and requirements
     

The ideal candidate:
 

  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (business, accounting, commerce)
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • Minimum 3 years of post-university work experience, ideally with accounting firm experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of IFRS
  • Proficient in the use of SAP and Cognos
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity and change in a dynamic environment
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Highly service-oriented with exceptional organization and follow up skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Passionate about fashion and luxury retailing
