The Assistant, being the first point of contact with clients and members of the general public and many civil servants, this position ensures the smooth, professional and courteous operation of the Community Corrections reception area by adding consistency to this communication process by ensuring all callers and visitors are treated in a professional manner.The incumbent is responsible for directing all incoming telephone calls and emails, professionally, greet and direct visitors and clients to the building, manage incoming mail and the posting of outgoing mail, coordinate deliveries and pick-ups with local cartage companies as well as assisting Community Corrections with data entry assignments, records management and financial verifications.

The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a high school diploma along with a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in an office environment. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in both Inuktitut and English is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
