What will you do?
- May assist with preparing monthly reports and accounting for operations, capital/debt, payroll & benefits, commodity tax, investments, and performance
- Prepare basic accounting entries
- Help review and analyze financial systems
- Assist with year-end financial statement preparation
- Support Senior Accountants with data and financial information
- Perform additional tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accounting co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program
Assets:
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
- Proven ability to check and record financial transactions and prepare detailed financial reports
- Proficient in using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience in preparing complex financial statements, reports, and analyzing accounting data
- Understanding of Canadian public sector accounting
- Knowledge of corporate financial systems and their connection to departmental accounting operations
