Academic Program Manager

 

Description:

· Responsible for recruiting and managing qualified staff and faculty including recommendation for termination when applicable. Responsibilities include orienting new hires, identifying and providing the necessary training for all staff and faculty, and maintaining regular communication and feedback. The incumbent observes faculty in the classroom and reviews lesson plans, curriculum, exams and textbook selection.

· Provides day-to-day supervision to staff and faculty as well as all staff required for curriculum development, delivery and departmental projects. Ensures that necessary activities in support of academic program delivery are completed in an efficient and timely manner.

· Acts as first point of contact to resolve student complaints on behalf of the Chair.

 

Program Development and Strategic Planning

 

 

· Leads the development of new subjects and new program proposals. Researches community resources, markets and trends. Monitors curriculum development and program review processes. Ensures Program Advisory Committees are active for all programs, recruits new members and maintains partnerships.

· Manages program activity planning including budget submission, review and monitoring costs.

· Participates in long-term strategic planning of resource allocation, program proposals, industry partnerships and projects.

· Develops and participates in marketing strategies and activities including internal and external information sessions, media releases and creation of program specific websites.

· Represents the College to community groups, business and professional associations by participating in and/or facilitating meetings and events and acting as a public relations resource and professional representative of the College.

· Along with the Chair, shares responsibility for maintaining external partnerships and developing new relationships with community and corporate partners.

 

Qualifications:

Education

· Minimum completed three (3) year diploma/degree in Accounting/Finance. If education is in a related field of study, please state how it is relevant.

· CPA Designation or other applicable accounting certificates and/or designations are preferred.

· Adult Education certificate or a demonstrated understanding of adult education principles is an asset.
